This day in WND history: WND busts CNN for 'fake news' on Vietnam War – in 1998!

CNN’s deceitful Vietnam report

WND-20-YearsJune 12, 1998: WND was first to expose fundamental journalistic flaws in CNN-Time’s “Tailwind” story, which alleged American soldiers had used chemical weapons during the Vietnam War.

The CNN investigative report alleged the U.S. government used lethal nerve gas during a mission to kill American defectors in Laos during the Vietnam War in 1970. However, after WND Editor and CEO Joseph Farah reviewed the findings of a parallel investigation conducted by a Vietnam vet attached to the accused elite commando unit, he no longer foundPeter Arnett’s CNN report credible.

Ultimately, CNN and Time apologized for the documentary and fired the producers.
